The Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award (CICLA) is one of the longest-running literary prizes in China. Since 2014, the Award has turned into an international competition related to children's literature, which is the first of its kind in China and its annual awards ceremony has been permanently hosted in Baoshan. As a key event linked to the Award, the CICLA Original Illustration Exhibition have been held for eight consecutive years. This year, the exhibition continues to call for high-quality illustrations from China and abroad.
The public group participation rules extend to those who are interested in children's literature and the art of illustrations.

Entrants
Public Group is open to all people regardless of professional background as long as they take interest in children's literature and illustration creation.

Creative Theme
Participants are required to get inspiration from one of the publications awarded in the 34rd Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award, and create one single piece or a series of illustration works. (The full list of publications is attached.)
Requirements for Work
  • 1. Painted work and digital work
    Work size should be no smaller than 16K (195 × 275mm) and the maximum size is 700 × 900mm. Digital work should be printed out by creator.
  • 2. Works of other forms
    Other forms of works, such as paper-cutting, print and sculpture are also accepted. Frontal size of three-dimensional works is suggested to be no smaller than 200 × 200mm.
  • 3. Participant can apply with one piece of work, or up to three if they are a series. Works not aligned with the required size will be excluded from the jury selection process.
Online Application
  • Press the button at the end of the page to fill in application information and upload a high-definition scanned image or digital file of the work(s). The required information includes personal information (name, age, school/institution, telephone, e-mail address and address), works information (name, size, material, reference books/articles) and a 200-word introduction.
  • After applying on-line, participant must sign the physical works and send it to the organizer before the deadline.
Physical Works Delivery
Please send the physical works before the admission deadline with postmark as proof (August 31, 2023) to the address below. On the package of the parcel please mark clear “CICLA Illustration” along with other necessary information for successful delivery. Please note, all illustration works will NOT be returned. Participants should reserve their own drafts.
